HYDERABAD: The Iraq-war tale 'The Hurt Locker', not only baggged top honours at the Oscar night but also topped the Google search list for the day.
For an average grosser that competed with big guns like 'Avatar' and 'Inglorious Basterds', the film had stirred a lot of curiosity among the average audience.
As the Oscar nominations were announced and awards declared on Sunday night, the Google-searches rose and fell based on the nominations and results.
But as 'The Hurt Locker' received more awards, searches for that film exceeded all others and peaked when it won Best Picture, according to the Google blog.
Similarly the lesser known actor, Jeff Bridges, who won the Best Actor award at the Oscars also stirred a lot of curiosity, resulting in a lot of searches for him and for the Best Actress winner Sandra Bullock.
The Oscars as much about designer gowns as about the awards. Zoe Saldana's purple Givenchy gown won the day in searches, with just a few more queries than runner up Miley Cyrus, who walked down the carpet in one of Jenny Packham's finest.
Both beat searches for Sandra Bullock's dress (Marchesa) by large margins. Sarah Jessica Parker, always the fashionista, ranked a distant fourth in Chanel, according to the blogpost.
